MIRIAM RODRIGUEZ BRÜLLOVÁ

Miriam studied at the State Conservatory in Bratislava. After obtaining a bachelor degree in interpretation and pedagogy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava she studied with outstanding guitarist and pedagogue Alvaro Pierri at Université du Québec á Montréal and Université Laval in Quebec City where she obtained a master degree in interpretation (2001). In 2003 she completed her studies at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna as a postgraduate student with the same teacher.

As an active participant of international master classes she cooperated with such artists as Abel Carlevaro, Alvaro Pierri, Luise Walker, Oscar Ghiglia, Pavel Steidl, John Duarte, Hubert Käppel, Costas Cotsiolis, Zoran Dukić, Aniello Desiderio and Laura Young.

Miriam participated in several guitar competitions in Slovakia and abroad where she won major prizes. Two times (1999, 2000) she was the winner of a scholarship as the best participant of the master class at the international music festival Joventuts Musicals de Torroella de Montgrí in Spain permitting her to perform recitals in Spain and France.

She performed as a soloist with Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Universal Symphony Orchestra Seoul, Wiener-Concert-Verein Orchestra, Thüringen Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Lodz, Rzeszow Philharmonic, Zagreb Soloists, Virtuosi di Praga, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Fondazione Arena di Verona, Slovak Chamber Orchestra, Virtuosi Pragenses, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic, Cappella Istropolitana, Slovak Sinfonietta, West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, Aeolus Quartet, Kallaci Quartet, Zemlinsky Quartet, Stamic Quartet, Mucha Quartet and others.

Miriam performed at such famous concert halls as Prague Rudolfinum, Berlin Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, Seoul Art Center, León de Greiff Auditorium Bogota, The House of Music Quito, Las Condes Municipal Theatre Santiago de Chile, Auditorium Conciliazione Rome, Teatro Filarmonico Verona and others. In addition to Slovakia she has played in almost whole Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa (more than 40 countries). She has given workshops and master classes in Pretoria, Lima, Moscow, Hersbruck, Bratislava, Kosice, Modra.

Miriam has performed under the baton of several well-known conductors e. g. Howard Griffiths (GB), Carmen Moral (Peru/USA), Leos Svarovsky (CZ), Vag Papian (Israel), Paweł Przytocki (PL), Markus Huber (Germany), Oliver Dohnanyi (Slovakia), Charles Olivieri-Munroe (Canada), Nanse Gum (South Korea), Theodore Kuchar (USA), Jan Talich (CZ).

As a chamber music player she performs regularly with some great Slovak, Czech and Hungarian artists (e. g. with violinists Dalibor Karvay and Sándor Jávorkai, double bassist Roman Patkoló, violoncellist Petr Nouzovský, hornist Radek Baborák, soloists of the Slovak National Opera Eva Hornyáková and Pavol Remenár).

She has recorded for the Slovak Radio, Praga Digitals label (France), ArcoDiva (Czech Republic) and Pavlík Records (Slovakia). In 2005 she initiated and established the International music festival Bratislava Chamber Guitar of which she is the artistic director. In 2015 she initiated and established the International guitar competition of which she is the artistic director. In 2018 she initiated and established Visegrad Music Youth Academy (guitar, violin, violoncello, flute).

For several years she was engaged by the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Now she teaches at the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica and the Conservatory in Bratislava. Miriam is playing the guitar by world-known luthier Gernot Wagner, Petr Matoušek and Hans van den Berg.
